Motherly Monday

Today's Motherly Monday is a few must-have items for the little one in my house. These are a few things that certainly make life easier for us and her both. Without further ado, here is a *slight* product review, you might say...

Item #1: The bunny blanket

It's so funny...I remember getting several of these as shower gifts, having NO idea why or when you would use them. It wasn't until we realized Savanna was one of those kids that needed something to [hold] when she slept. She needed something to rub up next to her face. She needed a security blanket. Tada! These became our best friend. She has 2 of these now, both are pink bunnies. We never go on an overnight trip without one of the bunnies. Sometimes she will walk up to her crib and pull the bunny out between the rails, and rub it up against her face--it's her secret way of telling me she's tired.

Items #2: Sippy Cup Labels

These wonderful little inventions are called BumpyName Orbit Labels. They fit both bottles and sippy cups, they are dishwasher safe, and they label your child's cup very uniquely yet very discreetly. Perfect for daycare babies! We love ours, thanks to Aunt Lela :)

Item #3: Safety Cotton Swabs

Nothing is grosser than crusty little ear cooties. And nothing is scarier than using regular Q-tips in your wiggly baby's ears. I never even considered buying these little swabs until I had a $1 coupon for any Johnson & Johnson baby product--that's when I discovered these! It's somewhat hard to explain how they work, unless you've ever seen one. But basically they prevent you from sticking the swab too far in their ears. I might consider this a luxury item, but they are definitely worth it!
Item #4: The Snack Trap

Have you ever seen these? Savanna received one as a birthday gift. They are fabulous! There little slogan is: "Because Kids Spill Things!" These little cups are perfect for goldfish and cheerios. They are designed to let them reach in and get their own snack without making a mess. It's fun to watch her use it---she's so proud of herself!

Item #5: Sippy Cup w/strawThese wonderful little cups are another perfect thing for the do-it-themselves little ones that want so badly to drink from a straw! They oddly enough are spill-proof too! The straw is designed to stay shut until they bite on the straw and suck. I tried it at first to see how it would work, and I couldn't get anything to come out! I guess that's because I'm not accustomed to biting my straw when I want a drink! The tricky part is teaching her not to tip the cup up when she's drinking...obviously she won't get anything out!

There you have it...a few of the little things that ease our day-to-day routine, and make things run a little more smoothly. :)
And you? Have you tried/not tried these things?

Reality Check

Is anyone watching American Idol and Dancing with the Stars this season? I'm not really excited about this season's DWTS, and this year's Idol are just okay. I think both of these shows have seen brighter days...maybe it was the first EIGHT seasons they were on! Maybe I'm burned out? Anyway, I'm still watching, and I still have my favorites...

Erin is definitely my number one pick on DWTS. I hope she wins it all!

Kate has to go. Bad Attitude. Horrible Dancing.

And her hair just freaks me out.

Love me some Crystal Bowersox and Casey James.
I hope these are the final two.
After that I don't care, as long as one of them wins!

Who is voting for Tim? Who? Please, for the love of music, stop.
There you have it. My picks for the season. Who are you voting for?

Kmart had a limit of only (5) coupons used per day, so each day I'd come home with a few things, spending only $2ish each visit. I sat everything on the dining room table so Lee could help me rejoice in my great savings. The other day he was so anxious to try the new Soft Scrub Total Kitchen cleaner, so he opened it, used it, and put it back in its place. When I got home from work he said:

"I tried that new kitchen cleaner. It's really nice, and it smells really good too. I put it back in it's place so you could take a picture for your blog!"

So there you have it. I took my picture and now I'm blogging about my {almost} $100 savings!

What about you? Have you ever saved this much with coupons in one week? I'd love to hear about it if you have!

Thankful Thursday

It's time once again for Thankful Thursday! I know I haven't been doing a very good job of keeping the blog updated, but...wait...wait for it...nope, I don't have a good excuse. Sorry. :) So here's my short and sweet list of thankful-fors this week:

*A husband that loves the Lord!

story time...

He came home from work yesterday and said, "Have I told you how awesome God is lately?!" My lame response being, "Well, no, I don't guess you've actually said that lately!" So then he went on to me how when he was doing his scripture reading the day before, he ran across some verses that were very...strange...for lack of a better word. (Something in Genesis about covenants and dead animals and...some other stuff.) Then when he got to work that night, he was listening to some of Pastor Ben's online messages, and he just happened to be preaching on the same verses he was reading, and, well, it just really cleared some things up for him!

**Sigh**

Good story.

*Disposable Diapers.

After a couple of the diapers I changed today, I just don't understand how or why you would use anything else...but that's just me!

*Light Bulbs.

I can't wait to try those super long-lasting ones I keep hearing about. Actually I can't wait to have any light bulb in the lamp in our bedroom. It's been like 2 weeks and we still haven't replaced it. :)

*All of the awesome awesome deals I snagged today when I was out and about couponing.

More details on tomorrow's Frugal Friday edition!

*Swiffer SweeperVac

Love it! It's perfect for a mess-making, crumb-slinging, cheerio-dropping 14-month old. Haven't had it very long, but it's worth every penny! But if you're interested, I have a $10 coupon I could share with you...

That's my list for this week! What about you? Are you thankful for any of these same things?? Goodnight, my friends :)
